Cautious not to criticize his colleagues on the Supreme Courtroom, Kennedy went on to specific his considerations about civility and ethics, saying, “Democracy presumes an open, rational, considerate, respectable dialogue the place you respect the dignity of the particular person with whom you disagree. And if it doesn’t have that, then democracy as we all know it’s at risk.”
