A person has been charged following the alleged incident at a retail park in Leckwith, Cardiff

Police rushed to a busy retail park in Cardiff to detain a person who was seen wielding a knife. The incident occurred on the Capital retail park at Leckwith beside the Cardiff Metropolis Stadium whereas the buying space was busy with households.

Officers from South Wales Police rushed to the scene after calls had been made and the person with the knife was detained by noon on Tuesday, the power stated on Wednesday afternoon.

When officers arrived a suspect had left the scene however a person was arrested inside 45 minutes and a knife was recovered. Jay Robert, from Canton, was later charged with being in possession of a pointed or bladed article in a public place.

The 31-year-old appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court docket on Wednesday, December 17, the place he pleaded responsible to the offence.

He has been remanded into custody till an extra listening to at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court docket on January 6 for a pre-sentence report back to be ready.
