Christmas lights have been stolen from various places in a small Valleys city. Round 70 metres value of Christmas lights have been reported to have been stolen in Blaina, Blaenau Gwent, over the weekend.
In a brazen theft, one set of lights was reportedly taken from a tree inside the grounds of a church. The native city council described the thefts as “disappointing and upsetting”.
In an announcement the council known as on members of the general public to contact the police with any data they might have concerning the incident. They added that lights have been taken from two separate places within the city.
The assertion from Nantyglo and Blaina City Council reads: “70 metres of Christmas lights cable has been stolen from two places in Blaina – from the aspect of Blaina Institute (going throughout to the tree along side Peking City Chinese language Takeaway) and from one of many timber inside the grounds of St Peter’s Church (Excessive Road aspect) through the weekend starting Friday, December 12.
“That is so disappointing and upsetting – the lights are put up for the entire neighborhood to take pleasure in at Christmas. The price of buying and erecting the lights is appreciable, as is the work it takes for them to be erected.”
The city council stated the theft has been reported to Gwent Police. “I’d ask that if anybody is aware of something about this, that they contact the police instantly or they’ll contact the city council instantly,” the assertion added.
