TechFirst initiative provides a chance for actual progress on DEI

Earlier this month, I used to be invited to PICTFOR’s seventh annual Variety, Fairness and Inclusion Rally, hosted on the Home of Commons.

The main target of the occasion – attended by MPs Samantha Niblett, Mims Davies and Daybreak Butler – was to share the vital work being achieved on range in our sector. And but, with sluggish progress in recent times, and DEI forged as a political boogeyman within the US, it was abundantly clear that the tech sector has reached a important junction for range initiatives throughout the board.

For years, the trade has been by the spectre of the ‘tech bro’, with lacklustre progress on DEI initiatives. In line with Tech Expertise Constitution’s annual 2024 ‘Variety in Tech’ report, girls and non-binary staff account for 29% of the UK tech workforce – a rise of simply 3% in comparison with 5 years in the past….
